Erik S. Emblem is a native of
Santa Fe,
New Mexico, where he worked at the Los Alamos
National Laboratory in
Los Alamos,
New Mexico. He worked in supervisor
capacities during the construction of many
of the world class research laboratories
there.
Emblem served as Business
Manager/Financial Secretary for SMWIA LU 49, a
position he was reelected to from 1980
until he was offered and accepted the
position of Executive Director of an
international construction industry
non-profit association in 1999.
Experience
During
his tenure as the Executive Director of the
National Energy Management Institute, Emblem
spearheaded and led many prestigious and visionary programs. One program, TABB
(Testing, Adjusting & Balancing Bureau), became the
first certification program to synchronize all components of the complex
HVAC industry and is recognized as a first-rate testing, adjusting and
balancing program that assures building owners and managers their HVAC
systems meet the design specifications.
With the assistance of many partners, Emblem administered a Department
of Energy study to determine the feasibility and need for an indoor air
quality and building management clearinghouse. This entity is in
existence today as the National Center for Energy Management and
Building Technologies (NCEMBT) and is recognized for its work in energy management, indoor
environmental quality and new technology market transformation.
Emblem has received many awards
recognizing his various efforts in energy
management and indoor air quality, including
being named to the TABB Hall of Fame in
